We couldn't just sit back in Paradise enjoying serene beaches while on the other side of the isthmus there is mass devastation. We decided to start a collection drive on the island. We spent our New Years canvassing the New Years Eve Party at Hat Rin and collected USD 750 from the partiers.
We researched
all the aid organizations and decided to collect for Doctors Without
Borders(Medecins Sans Frontieres MSF). However they had enough funds when we went to make the donation. So instead we donated to UNICEF.
I suggest you use this organization to make your contribution.
Anything you can give will be greatly needed. They are in the process
of filling and shipping their fourth full cargo shipment. Please take

We collected 1,150 USD!
The wave hit only several hundred miles from where we are. For us it was nothing more than news on the TV for a while. That is until the floods of tourist starting pouring onto this island like refugees. They come with stories and it has really hit home. So far Astara is the #1 canvasser and has brought in nearly half of it.
